Front Line Workers
While The Waffle Chic had plans to open a brick and mortar location shortly before COVID-19 hit, life had other plans in store. Instead of letting a pandemic get us down, however, we took the setback as an opportunity to give back and do something for essential workers who have done so much for us.
What we love at The Waffle Chic more than anything else is watching people come together over brunch. During this time of social distancing, we figured the best way to do this would be to make and deliver chicken and waffle meals to frontline workers at St. Albans Veterans’ Hospital, the Mount Sinai South Nassau Emergency Department, and NYU Emergency Department and Jacobi hospital in the Bronx. These heroes deserve only the best. Chic waffles seemed like a great place to start!
To date, we have donated over 500 boxes of meals to essential workers in NYC. Our business started off as a charitable donation, so it only makes sense to continue in this tradition during these times that have been so difficult for so many. We’re happy to do what we can and put a smile on the face of those who are working so hard to keep us safe and healthy, even if we can’t see their smiles behind their masks!
The Waffle Chic was a business born from the fundamental belief of giving back, so during this pandemic, we’re walking the walk, not just talking the talk. While we’ll be opening for an outdoor social distanced brunch on July 12, as always, we want to make sure everyone is staying safe, wearing masks, and washing their hands, so that our hard-working healthcare employees don’t have to see us any time soon.
Now, we want to hear from you. What charitable acts have you been up to during COVID-19? Where have you given back? And where would you like to see us give back in the future? Comment below or email us
